Well I have been at the lodge for exactly one month, three weeks of those pretty much alone. Just me and my cat. The owners have been over once to make some upgrades to the email system (yeah!!!). It started raining last monday and finally stopped yesterday. Today is a beautiful sunny day, temp is around 30. Just right. Took a walk on the beach during low tide. Heard what sounded like a bald eagle party. Kept walking and found them. Three adults and one juvenile. The flock of harlequin ducks are in the cove along with one sea otter. When I first got here there were 11 or 12 sea otters hanging around the cove but I haven't seen them lately. Spike, my cat, has been establishing communications with the group of Stellar's Jays and Magpies that stay around the main lodge. He sits outside looking hopeful and doing the hunting cat chatter (if you have a cat you will know what I am talking about) and the birds sit in the trees and scream at him. They seem to be getting along fine. No blood drawn yet..lol. I think Spike will get the worst end of that deal if they ever connect.

Last night around 2 I heard some type of bird screaming. Figured a weasel or the coyote dined on duck.

Haven't seen either the weasels or the coyote yet but have seen tracks and some scat. Also haven't seen the river otters since it started raining. Most of the snow is gone but there is a lot of ice. Pretty slick on the lodge trails.
